important factor, insufficient ventilation of rooms is probably another,
but doubtless there are others against which it may be possible to provide
protective measures. While deaths from Diarrhoea and Enteritis have
largely declined, deaths from Appendicitis and other diseases of the
digestive organs, which had shown a decrease up to 1916, have increased
since. Combined, however, with deaths from Developmental Diseases, the
decrease is regular, 1.34, 0.76, 0.73, 0.61 to 0.54.
The conditions obtaining in the War and post-War years do not
appear to have affected children at this group of ages.
