Maternity and Child Welfare.
Expectant Mothers.—The names of 802 were sent in by hospitals,
voluntarily notified or found by visitors, and to these 3,064 visits were
paid at their homes (see Table); 194 attended the Mothercraft Classes.
Ante·natal Clinics.—112 women attended for the first time in 1923
(139 in 1920, 155 in 1921). There were 247 attendances altogether of
expectant mothers at the two centres.

170 women also attended the Clinic at Bessborough Street after
confinement, making 280 attendances (85 first, 195 subsequent).
Clinics are also held at Charing Cross and St. George's Hospitals, and
will be at Westminster Hospital when it is reopened.
Mothercraft Classes.—These exist at each Centre and are attended
by mothers both before and after confinement.
Notwithstanding the decrease in the number of births, the attendances
at the Council's Centres show an increased attendance by the mothers.
Mothercraft classes are also carried on at the Greek Street, Rochester
Row and Mayfair Centres by the Health Society. These also show an
increase in attendances.
The total attendances at all the Centres were 4,621, compared with
3,585 in 1922.

Materials are purchased in quantity, and sold to the mothers at cost
price. The number of garments made at Pimlico Road were 202;
