The final cause of death as stated in the death certificate does not
always reveal the conditions which may have led up to it. Thus, of 11
cases of broncho-pneumonia the infants in several cases had been prematurely
born or in delicate health from birth, 3 were of the peculiar type
known as mongolism, another had rickets, as probably also had some of .
those whose deaths were ascribed to dentition or convulsions.
