In 14 hospitals and 10 nursing homes there were 1,853 persons,
including staff.
In 10 barracks and 2 military hospitals, 2,958 persons.
In ships, barges and boats (11), 13 persons.
Twenty-one persons (11 of whom were women) were found sleeping
in the streets, in 1911 there were 93 of this class.
In the workhouse and infirmary (in Chelsea Borough) not reckoned in
the population for Westminster, there were 1,603 inmates.
The area of the City of Westminster is 2,502.7 acres (3.91 square
miles).
The average number of persons per acre is now 57. In 1901 it was 72
and in 1911, 64. There are about 700 acres of parks and other public
open spaces, and if these are deducted the average density of population
would be 101 in 1901, 88 in 1911 and 78 in 1921.
The average density for the County of London was 60 persons per acre
in 1921, 60 4 in 1911.
