Average Number of Occupants per Room.—The following table shows an improvement in the average number of persons occupying tenements in Westminster of less than four rooms:—

Ages and Condition as to Marriage.—A comparison of the proportion
of males and females in the population of the County of London and
the City of Westminster shows that males are fewer in Westminster
than in the County and females are more. There are also considerable
differences at various age periods, which have an appreciable effect when
comparisons are made of birth and death rates and with respect to the
incidence of infectious disease.

Up to the age of 20 the proportion of both males and females is less
than in London, but from that age on to 70 years it is greater; over
that age it is again less, but this may be in part due to the fact that a
number of elderly people who are in the Infirmaries are not reckoned,
as these institutions are situated outside the City. There is evidently
