E.—Food Supply.
The food exposed for sale in shops and on stalls in the street markets
has been regularly inspected every day (including Sundays). The
following list shows the quantity of food condemned and destroyed
during the year. The bulk of it was submitted by the owners or
purchasers for the opinion of your officers:—

30 lbs. various kinds of meat Magistrate was of opinion that the meat
was not intended for sale.
20 lbs. Unsound Plums No line, 12s. 6d. costs.
Above-ground Bakehouses.—During 1906 there have been no
additions to the above-ground bakehouses, but No. 99, Horseferry
Eoad, No. 48, Eomney Street, and No. 72, Vauxhall Bridge Eoad are
not at present being used as bakehouses; there are, therefore, 16 now
in use.
Underground Bakehouses.—There are 81 now being used in the City.
Three in use at the passing of the Act have been certified and added to
the list, viz.: No. 173, New Bond Street, No. 162, Victoria Street
and Hyde Park Hotel. Four which were in use in 1905 have been
discontinued, viz.: No. 78, Berwick Street, No. 1, Old Compton Street,
No. 76, Wardour Street (demolished), and No. 415, Oxford Street.
