From Table III. we see that the death-rate of London
proper, with an estimated population of 4,589,129, amounted
to 18 8, the average rate in the previous ten years having
been 19'8 (or equal to the death-rate in 1899).
The death-rate of Greater London, with an estimated
population of 6,652,145, was 17'3, the average rate in the
previous ten years having been 18.3 (or equal to the deathrate
in 1899).
The death-rate of the 33 largest English Towns was 19'5.
The death-rate of this parish was lower than that of any
one of the 33 largest English towns except Cardiff (with
only 13'8), the others nearest to it being:—
