The Steam Roller.
The steam roller has worked continuously on the granite

For flint roads, however, a horse roller of less weight (viz., 5
tons) has been purchased, at a cost of £90, which is more
suitable.

The cost of maintenance, including all expenses of every description, is as follows:—

Wood Paving.
Two small portions of wood pavement have been laid
down in the Parish during the past year, one in Wilton
Road, opposite the entrance to the Victoria Station, the
other in the Uxbridge Road, adjoining "Henson's" pavement
in Oxford Street; the former comprising an area
of about 150 yards, was laid by the Patentee, at his own
expense; the latter by the "Improved Wood Pavement
Company," at a cost to the Parish of £293, being at the
rate of 15s. per square yard.
The portions of wood pavement which have been laid
in Piccadilly by the Improved Wood Pavement Company,
in 1873, have worn exceedingly well, and are at present in
very good condition.
