SURVEYOR'S REPORT.
My Lords and Gentlemen,
This being my first year of office, and the present, in
consequence, the first Annual Report which I have the
honour to submit to you, I feel bound to follow the system
hitherto adopted.
In future, however, I purpose making my Annual
Report—what I think it ought to be—an accurate statement
of the actual cost of the various works carried out in my
department. For, as at the commencement of the year, I
submit to you an estimate of the expenditure required, so, at
the end of the year, the Annual Report ought to represent
the actual expense incurred.
The various works which have been carried out during
the year ended Lady-day 1875, are as follows:—

Maintenance of Roads.
