My Lords and Gentlemen,
The Annual Report, consisting of 53 weeks, ended
April 1st, 1871, during which period 2343 births and
2049 deaths were registered in the Parish, including those
of 266 non-parishioners in St. George's Hospital, 103 in
the Workhouse, Mount Street; 67 in Little Chelsea Workhouse;
2 in the Belgrave Hospital for children; 1 in the
Orthopœdic Hospital, Oxford Street, and 41 in the Home
for Deserted Mothers and Infant?, No. 3, Cumberland
Street. The total mortality (2049 shows an increase of
212 deaths, as compared with that) 1870, and gives an
annual death-rate of 23 per thousand of the population.
But deducting the deaths (266) of non-parishioners at the
