HOUSING.
Housing conditions show a slight improvement, and overcrowding
is not quite so bad as in 1926.
122 families have been accommodated on the London County Council
Estates, and others have obtained accommodation elsewhere.
There have been fewer applications for houses than in 1926, and the
pressure is diminishing. Many applicants are not in a position to take
up Council houses even if more were available. This is chiefly due to
the large families and small incomes, and it is practically impossible to
rehouse families living under these conditions. Every effort is made to
provide accommodation for those who are suitable tenants and who are
able to live in the districts where houses are provided.
