REPORT ON THE BAKEHOUSES OF THE BOROUGH.
All the bakehouses of the Borough were visited by the Chairman of
the Committee, myself and Mr. Weatheritt. With the exception of two
or three they were all in a good structural state, and with those exceptions
mentioned in the following table they were all in a clean and satisfactory
condition.
At the present time a good many of the troughs in the bakehouses
are on casters, but we think that an. effort should be made by the
Inspector to get all of them so fitted to enable the troughs to be readily
removed from the walls.
A bakehouse being a dusty place, there is so great a disposition on
the part of the flour to settle that the greatest attention is needed in
keeping every part of the floor and the walls behind the troughs swept
and dusted. Regulations might well be framed for the proper dusting
and cleansing of the bakehouse, and I shall be prepared when this report
is considered with certain suggestions for the keeping of bakehouses in a
more cleanly state.
