SMOKE NUISANCES.

43 complaints were received at the Public Health Office during the year, from persons other than the Council's Inspectors. The undermentioned premises are those in relation to which more than one complaint was made:—

Three summonses were taken out against the City of London
Electric Lighting Company, in respect to which the Magistrate inflicted
fines of £5, £2 10s. and £2 10s. with 6s. costs.
The Governors of Guy's Hospital were also proceeded against in
respect to three of the nuisances observed by the Inspector. Two summonses
were dealt with by the Magistrate as one offence, in respect
to which he iuflicted a penalty of £10 and 2s. costs. Upon the other
summons the defendants were fined £5 with 2s. costs.
