POLICE COURT PROCEEDINGS TAKEN UNDER THE
FOOD AND DRUGS' ACTS,
140 summonses have been taken out during the year. In 65 cases
the defendants were convicted. 63 summonses were withdrawn—in
nearly every instance these summonses being duplicates which had been
taken out against persons who served the Inspector, but who were not
the actual proprietors of the business. 12 summonses were dismissed,
mainly in instances where the vendors relied upon warranties from the
wholesale firms who supplied the milk to them.
