Particulars of the samples taken together with the results of the
analyses are given in the following table.
POLICE COURT PROCEEDINGS TAKEN UNDER THE
FOOD AND DRUGS' ACTS,
114 summonses have been taken out during the year. In 59 cases
the defendants were convicted. 44 summonses were withdrawn—in
nearly every instance these summonses being duplicates which had been
taken out against persons who served the Inspector, but who were not
the actual proprietors of the business. 4 summonses were dismissed,
2 summonses were adjourned sine die, and 5 summonses were not served,
the defendants having absconded.
