Mothers.
60 mothers are reported on. II others failed to attend adequately.
4 were sent, early in their course of treatment at the Light Clinic, to
Hospital or Clinic, and one to a Convalescent Home.
I classify the 60 cases as follows:—
Debility during pregnancy 12
Post-natal weakness and depression 14
Rheumatism 11
Debility and nervous depression and other ailments 23
Total 60
Of these—
31 were Marked Successes.
16 were Successes.
13 were Moderate Successes.
The rheumatic group was most encouraging, 9 of these being striking
successes. Usually they are given a preliminary dose of red light (including
heat) and then a general exposure to U.V.R. These patients experience
great relief and regain freer movement.
Nervous depression, a very real and distressing disorder, is usually
"cured" in a shorter or longer course.
In conclusion, I express my hearty appreciation of the wholehearted
work of the Sister-in-Charge who continues to devote her energies on
behalf of the mothers and children; and to her assistant for her kind
care of the children.
E.M. LAYMAN.
