Staff.—As in previous years I am indebted to the members of the
Public Health Committee and the Maternity and Child Welfare Committee
for their support, and to the Chief Officers of other Departments for their
help and co-operation.
I must acknowledge, too, the assistance which I have received from
Dr. W. C. P. Smith and Dr. C. K. Cullen in connection with the additional
duties imposed by the prevalence of Smallpox.
I also wish to place on record my appreciation of the work of the
Council's staff, especially in connection with Smallpox. The question
of utilising the services of the members of the Public Health Department
staff for special work in times of epidemics, often to the detriment of
regular work, is not a new problem and confronts local authorities from
time to time.
