It is proposed that each metropolitan borough council should
be invited to appoint a representative on the local sub-committee
established in their area, and in anticipation of the Insurance
Committee approving the scheme at their meeting to be held on
the 25th instant, I have been directed to ask that the Poplar
Borough Council will nominate a representative, and further that
the medical officer of health of the borough may be permitted to
serve as an ex-officio member of the sub-committee.
I am also to ask whether the borough council will be good
enough to assist the Insurance Committee by allowing the local
sub-committees, who will only be required to act pending the
establishment of district committees under section 59 of the
Act, to use the offices of the borough council for their meetings.
It will be a great convenience if a reply to this letter can be
received by the first post on Thursday, the 25th instant.
I am, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
Laurence Gomme.
The Town Clerk of the
Metropolitan Borough of Poplar.
Mr. Alderman A. E. Thorp was appointed the Council's representative
on the local sub-committee for administration of sanatorium benefit
under the National Insurance Act, and the Medical Officer of Health was
an ex-officio Member of the Committee.
Anti-Tuberculosis Dispensary.
