As soon as the Council has received the required information
it is proposed to draw up a general scheme for the County and to
invite the opinion of the Borough Councils thereon, and as this
matter is one which so deeply concerns the Borough Councils,
the Council feels sure of their active co-operation.
I am, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
(Signed) Laurence Gomme,
Clerk of the Council.
The Town Clerk,
Metropolitan Borough of Poplar.
A circular letter was also received from the Local Government Board
asking for similar information, and this was supplied to both authorities.
Provision of means for Treatment of Tuberculosis—Conference
of Metropolitan Borough Councils.
The Holborn Borough Council suggested Conference of Metropolitan
Borough Councils on the subject of the provision of means for treatment
of Tuberculosis, within the County of London.
The following resolutions were adopted at the Conference of Metropolitan
Borough Councils on the subject of the Interim Report of the
Departmental Committee on Tuberculosis, viz. : —
(1) That the Metropolitan Asylums Board having been
constituted the Central Authority in London entrusted with the
duty of providing accommodation for the isolation and treatment
of persons suffering from notifiable infectious diseases, and
pulmonary tuberculosis being now included in the category of such
diseases, and having regard to the great experience gained by the
Metropolitan Asylums Board in the establishment, maintenance and
management of such institutions, this Conference is of opinion,
that in the best interests of London it is very desirable that the
provision and management of sanatoria and hospital accommodation
for the treatment of tuberculous persons should also be
entrusted to the Metropolitan Asylums Board.
