London County Council (General Powers) Act, 1904.
The provisions of this Act were not enforced as during the course of
year 25 verminous rooms were cleansed, having been dealt with, with
other matters, for which the usual notices were served, under the Public
Health London Act.
The Dairies, Cowsheds and Milkshops Order of 1885.
The cowshed for which notice was received for renewal of the licence
at 27, Abbott Road, was again inspected and found to be in sanitary
order; no opposition to the application of the licensee was made.
These premises were empty at end of 1912.
The milk sellers' and purveyors' premises were from time to time
visited. Registers at Public Health Office corrected in the cases of those
found non-registered or through change of occupancy, etc., etc. The
persons in question were supplied with forms which in every case were
duly signed for the required alteration. Attention was given to enforcement
of regulations relating to cleanliness of utensils, more particularly
regarding the sanitary conditions under which milk was retailed, in
compliance with "order."
Sale of Food and Drugs Acts—Margarine Acts.
I have as directed by you procured 52 samples of food, etc. (of that
number 12 were butter, all of which were found free of acid preservatives)
all the samples were certified genuine.
The Public Health (Milk and Cream) Regulations, 1912.
Regarding sample (No. 291) of potted cream, which was found
not to contain an excess of boric acid. The above Regulations were
infringed, inasmuch, that the proper "declaratory label" as to size
was not attached to receptacle of cream. A letter of caution was sent
to vendor.
Factory and Workshops Act, 1901—Bakehouses.
In accordance with your instructions periodical inspections of nine
bakehouses were carried out (five were closed before and since commencement
of year) and where required, extract copies of above Act, "intimations"
notices, etc., were served, all of which received attention, in
every case the necessary cleansing and limewhiting work being done
and defects remedied.
