(3.) Any provisions of the Public Health Act, 1875, applied
by this Act shall, for the purposes for which they are so applied,
extend to London.
It was urged that it is undesirable that the application of the Act
to London should be subject to modification by regulations of the Local
Government Board, and especially undesirable that the Board should be
enabled to transfer by regulation the duties and powers of Sanitary
Authorities and their Medical Officer of Health to the London County
Council. It is further desirable that the lists of sources of supply, referred
to in Sub-section 2, should be forwarded to the Borough Councils as well
as to the London County Council. The Committee recommended the
Council that representations be made to H.M. Government urging
amendment of the Bill by elimination of the words empowering the
Local Government Board to transfer powers and duties of Sanitary
Authorities to the London County Council, and by inclusion of Sanitary
Authorities in Sub-Section 2 ; and that the local Members of Parliament
be asked to support such representations.
SMOKE NUISANCES.
54 smoke nuisances were dealt with during the year :—21 Bow East,
6 Bow West, 5 North Bromley, 8 Bromley Central, 4 East combined,
6 West combined, and 4 Poplar South.

No summonses were applied for.

London County Council (General Powers) Act, 1902, Sec. 43.

Borough where ice-creams are manufactured were inspected. There are
124 such premises within the Borough, 55 Poplar, 42 Bromley and 27
Bow. (See Table A, page 144.)
Cleansing of premises was necessary in 24 instances. 9 other
nuisances were remedied.
See Inspectors' reports, pages 200 to 240.
