The Diphtheria Anti-Toxin (London) Order, 1910.
Twenty-four thousand units of diphtheria anti-toxin were supplied
during the year.
Diphtheria and Public Elementary Schools.
On 16th February, 1912, a communication was received from the
School Medical Officer of the London County Council stating that the
Head Teacher of Millwall School (J. M. and I. Department) had been
requested to exclude from Room I. all children suffering from sore throat,
and to forward full particulars on Form 84 to the Medical Officer of Health.
The School Medical Officer also stated that the children would not be
allowed to resume attendance at school for at least one month unless
certificates (based upon bacteriological examination) were furnished
stating they were free from infection.
On 21st May a letter was received from the School Medical Officer
of the London County Council stating that the Head Teacher of the
Infants' Department of Woolmore Street School had been requested to
exclude from classes in which cases of Diphtheria occurred, all children
suffering from sore throat, and to forward particulars to the Medical
Officer of Health on Form 84. The Medical Officer stated the children
would not be allowed to resume attendance at school until certificates
(based upon bacteriological examination) were furnished stating they
were free from infection, or until the teacher received further instructions.
