Sir,—
Disinfectants.
I am directed by the Public Health aud Housing Committee
to offer supplies of Electrolysed Salt Water disinfectant manufactured
by this Council, for use in the Public Elementary Schools
in this Borough.
1 enclose papers describing the nature, power and use of the
disinfectant. The Committee will be pleased to arrange for delivery
to the Schools, with necessary instructions for use. It is not
proposed to make any charge in connection with the supply.
Yours faithfully,
(Signed) LEONARD POTTS, Town Clerk.
The Clerk,
London County Council,
Education Department,
Victoria Embankment, W.C.
The Electrolytic Fluid will neither stain nor discolour the floors and
seats* of the class-rooms, for as well as disinfecting, it bleaches, which is

† As this Report is going to press some adverse criticisms are appearing in
the Public Press to the effect that the Council is adding the Electrolytic Fluid in
order to save the use of fresh water. This statement is absolutely untrue; in fairness
to the Public and to the Council I take this opportunity to deny it, and to state most
definitely it is an absolute mis-statement founded on misrepresentation. The Council
has not this parsimonious object in view in seeking to provide their bathing supporters
with the most wholesome bathe possible Neither is the Council's object to disinfect
the bathers, another misrepresentation. The fact is a swimming bath cannot be
emptied, cleansed and refilled at all times, so the Council desires to keep the water clean,
sweet and pure as far as possible for the afternoon bathers after it has been unavoidably
polluted by those of the morning]
