requiring such authority to enter upon or restore in the register the name
of such person.
With regard to the enforcement of Section 5 (1) of the London County
Council (General Powers) Act of 1908, the Sanitary Inspectors visited all
the milkshops in the Borough and warned the vendors that unless their
premises were kept scrupulously clean, especially where anything was
sold which would be likely to contaminate milk, such premises would be
considered as unsuitable for the sale of milk therein, and the vendors'
names would be removed from the register.
London County Council (General Powers) Bill, 1909.
Part ITI. Unwholesome Milk.
The London County Council is authorised to take samples of milk on
delivery at any railway station in London, and the Borough Council to
take samples at any other place in its own district.
If on examination the milk is found to contain any matter rendering
it unwholesome, the person producing or consigning the milk taken at
railway stations, or the person selling it in other cases, is liable to
penalties.
If samples taken at railway stations are unwholesome to such an
extent or on such frequent occasions as to render it desirable, the London
County Council may make an order excluding all or any of the milk from
uch dairy.
In the case of any such sample the London County Council Medical
Officer may inspect the dairy and cows and take samples.
(Similar provisions contained in the London County Council (General
Powers) Bill, 1908, were approved by the Council, but were not proceeded
with.)
ICE-CREAMS.
About the middle of the year 1908, all the known premises within
the Borough where ice creams are manufactured were inspected. There
are 140 such premises within the Borough, 62 Poplar, 52 Bromley and
26 Bow. (See Table A, page 119.)
