In October, a landlord was summoned at the Thames Police Court
for not supplying certain information respecting a house in West Ferry
Eoad, Millwall. but upon supplying the information prior to the date
fixed for hearing, defendant elected to pay the Solicitor's costs, which
course was duly agreed to. Costs £2 4s.
Overcrowding.
I would here mention that during the year a few urgent cases received
attention, and notices were served without the usual course of registration
being adopted. There was a slight increase in the number of cases as
compared with the previous year, most of which were discovered within
the congested areas.
Included in the 127 cases abated are 13 cases that were outstanding
from 1906. See tabulated statement.
London County Council (General Powers) Act, 1904, Section 20.
Under this Act a large number of "intimations" were served,
respecting rooms infested with vermin, and I am glad to say that the
whole of the rooms were efficiently cleansed, without the Medical Officer
having to inspect in order to certify as to the condition, which is
necessary before " notices " can be served under this Act.
Nuisances.
As usual, any nuisances that came to my notice and could not be
dealt with under the Bye-laws, were duly notified to the Inspector of the
district.
Night Inspections.
Night inspections were made throughout the year, when many cases
of overcrowding were discovered.

Tabulated Statement for the year ended December 31st, 1907.
