Offensive Businesses.
No serious nuisances from offensive businesses arising within the
district have occurred during the past twelve months. But complaint of
nuisances arising from without the district have been made on several
occasions necessitating communication with the authority of the district.
Verminous Booms.
23 verminous rooms have been cleansed under the provisions of the
London County Council (General Powers Act, 1902.)
Factories, Workshops and Workplaces.
The workshops and workplaces have been visited and found generally
satisfactory, and any nuisances arising within these premises have been
abated on the service of intimation.
Homework.
The outworkers, who are all boot and shoe operatives, have been
visited twice during the year, and the premises of each examined for
nuisances and sanitary defects. The workrooms were mostly found in a
fair condition, and any defects in the premises were remedied by the owner
or occupier on a notice being served.
Milkshops and Cowsheds.
The milkshops and cowsheds have given no cause for complaint; the
cowsheds were limewhited and cleansed twice during the year, in accordance
with the provisions of the Dairy and Cowsheds orders, and the milk
vessels and measures of the various milk vendors were not unsatisfactory.
In one or two instances dippers required the seams or handles resoldered,
which was done on attention being called to the slight openings in the
joints.
Ice Cream Makers and Vendors.
On visiting the ice cream makers and vendors during the season, the
London County Council (General Powers Act, 1902) was apparently carefully
complied with.
Food and Drugs Acts.
Under the Sale of Food and Drugs Acts fifty-seven varied samples
