Vendor cautioned.
Milk, deficient in solids, not fat, to the extent of 1.7 per cent.

* The Inspector, Mr. Miners, reported that in the case against the vendor o
"yellow crystals," Sample No. 474, certified by the Public Analyst to be" beet sugar
superficially coloured with a yellow coal-tar dye and therefore not Demerara sugar,"
which had been sold to the prejudice of purchaser instead of Demerara sugar, had
resulted in no summons being issued against the proprietor of the business, in
consequence of his private address not being obtainable, although every possible means
had been adopted as directed by the Council's Solicitor, both to interview him and to
obtain the necessary information. The business itself (one of three branches) was
carried on under the term of "company," but there was reason to believe that this
"company " consisted only of one person, and whose name was given the Inspector by
the saleswoman as the owner. A summons had been applied for and issued against
this saleswoman, who actually sold the sample over the counter, but she moved before
the service to an unknown address, the summons had in consequence not been served.
