and when found to be unsound, unwholesome, and unfit for food
of man, witnessed the same destroyed, and have given certificates
to that effect. In no instance was any article of food exposed for
sale, or deposited for the sale of or preparation for sale, at the
time of my visit, in such a condition as to justify seizure.
Inspection of Canal Boats (Barges).
I have, during the year, made 57 inspections of non-registered
barges, with the result that no infringement of regulations had been
discovered.
Schools.
By your direction the five public schools in my district have been
frequently visited, due care at the beginning of the year having
been taken regarding the water supplies. All of which, with two
private schools (both since closed) had been found to be kept in
fair sanitary condition.
Ice Cream Makers and Vendors.
As directed by you, all the premises where ice cream was
prepared were inspected with the view of detecting any infringement
of the London County Councils (General Powers) Act, 1902.
The barrows were examined to see that they were legibly marked
with the vendors' names, etc., and care taken that the ice cream and
utensils were satisfactory. In only one case was an offence detected,
which was met by the business being discontinued.
Cowshed License.
•
One notice had been received for renewal of license. The
premises, No. 27, Abbott Road, were again duly inspected, found
to be in fair sanitary condition, no objection was raised to the
application.
I am, Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
RICHARD E. MINERS,
Sanitary Inspector, and Inspector under
Sale of Food and Drugs Acts, and
Canal Boats Act, Bromley Central
Division.
