It should be borne in mind that, in studying death rates, comparison
should be made with those of districts the inhabitants of
which exist under similar conditions. See Table XIII., page 24,
East Districts.
The Deptford Borough Council had under consideration the
suggestion that the duties of the Guardians in respect of the
registration of births and deaths might with advantage be transferred
to the Borough Councils and the registrations effected at
Municipal buildings, instead of at the private residences of the
Registrars, and they asked for the opinion of the Council on the
matter. The Committee concurred in the suggestion, and recommended
the Council accordingly.
The following are death rates per 1000 living from the seven
principal zymotic diseases and respiratory diseases, and proportion
of deaths to 1,000 deaths from all causes. See Table XVI., page 26.
