The London County Council is required to provide proper
accommodation for the holding of inquests, and may by agreement
with the Borough Council provide in connection with a
mortuary a building for post-mortem examinations provided by
that authority, on terms to be agreed upon.
The Public Health and Housing Committee recommended the
Council 'to acquire the land in Glaucus Street adjoining the stone
yard for the erection of a shelter and disinfecting station as well
as a coroner's court and mortuary.
The Council adopted the recommendation of the Committee.
Later on, the Public Control Committee of the London County
Council agreed to recommend the Council to approve the provision
by the Poplar Borough Council of a Coroner's Court in
connection with mortuary, etc., proposed to be erected in Glaucus
Street.

Grosvenor Buildings have 542 tenements, the County Council
Buildings contain 50, and Hanbury Buildings 35.
