Notice had been received from the London Port Sanitary Authority
that a passenger had arrived from Valencia by ss. "Cortes." He
was found to be in fair health when visited.
A notice was received from the London Port Sanitary Authority
respecting a passenger coming to the Poplar district from Glasgow
by the ss. "Dungeness." It was found upon enquiry at the address
stated in the notice that the passenger had gone to reside at East
Ham, and thereupon the Medical Officer of Health for that district
was communicated with.
A notice was received from the London Port Sanitary Authority
respecting a passenger coming to the Poplar district in the ss.
" Hadda," from Glasgow. The passenger arrived in good health.
A notice was received from the Bristol Port Sanitary Authority
that a passenger, from Smyrna by the ss. " Tremayne '' was coming
into the Borough, but at the address given no such person was
known.
The London Port Sanitary Authority gave notice of a man from
Glasgow coming to the parish of Bromley, the address given was his
wife's, he did not go there, he went to Canning Town, but his
actual residence could not be ascertained. The same Port Sanitary
Authority gave notice of another passenger from Glasgow, he had to
be traced as he did not go to the address given.
Two passengers were notified from a ship on which a case of
plague had occurred; one passenger was found at the address given,
and kept under observation; the other passenger did not arrive at
the address he gave, but a fellow passenger stated he had gone to
Ireland. The night watchman (who lived in Poplar) of the ship was
also kept under observation. A laundry was also daily visited in the
parish of Bromley, where linen from the infected ship had been
taken.
