Water Supply.— Paddington is supplied with water derived from the River Thames, which, after passing through
storage reservoirs, is filtered and chlorinated at Barnes, and pumped from Hammersmith.
The Metropolitan Water Board report that samples of the water being pumped into supply were taken at the
works on five days each week, and examined both chemically and bacteriologically. Samples of the water during
the various stages of purification are also examined at frequent intervals.
