Notification of Births.— Notifications were received relating to 2,263 births occurring in Paddington, 2,195 being
live births, and 68 stillbirths. Medical practitioners sent 1,064 notifications, midwives 1,171, maternity assistants
9, other persons 18, and parent 1. Further analysis shows that 1,332 notifications were sent by Paddington
Hospital, 568 by St. Mary's Hospital, and 27 by Nursing Homes. A comparison of the Notification Register
with the Returns supplied by the Registrars shows that of the 2,008 births registered during 1944, only six were
not notified.
