Illegitimate Births.—These were 253 in number, or 12.88 per cent.of the total number of
births. The proportion of illegitimate births varies remarkably in the different wards as is shown
in the table below:—

Stillbirths.—During 1935, 67 stillbirths were registered in the Borough in accordance with
the provisions of the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1926. Of these, 26 occurred to residents
of other localities; on the other hand 19 stillbirths occurred outside the Borough to Paddington
residents. The nett number for the Borough was therefore 60, a figure equivalent to 2.9 per cent,
of the total births recorded. Of the 60 stillbirths, males numbered 30 and females 30, 4 of the malesand
11 of the females being illegitimate.
