INQUESTS.
During the past year 215 inquests were held in the Borough, an increase of 31 above the
total for 1911. Of last year's inquests 81 related to deaths of non-residents (68 in 1911), while
17 inquests were held outside the Borough with reference to deaths of residents (22 in 1911).

The corrected total number of deaths of residents registered after inquest was 152 last year, as
compared with 138 in 1911 and 157 in 1910. Such deaths formed 8 6 per cent. of the corrected
total number of deaths recorded in the year, or 1.5 per cent. more than in 1911 (7.1) and 0.4 per
cent. above the average for 1907.11 (8.2). Table 32 shows the numbers returned under the
different "findings" of the juries. A summary of the various accidents, &c., inquired into is
given below.
