Deptford and Downham School Treatment Centres
These two centres are maintained by Voluntary Committees in agreement with the
Inner London Education Authority. Both committees are responsible for heating,
lighting and cleaning, for minor ailments clinics and the appointment of staff required
for that service.
The Committees initially pay the running expenses of the buildings and certain of
the salaries and wages, the whole of the expenditure being reimbursed by the Inner
London Education Authority through payments in the form of regular grants.
Accounts are kept and produced for audit, detailing all expenditure.
The Medical Officer of Health is represented on the Deptford Committee by Miss
E. Stocker, the Council's Principal Social Worker and on the Downham Committee
by Mrs. D. M. Coe, the Borough Nursing Officer (Maternal and Child Health and
School Health Services). Both Committees meet regularly to discuss the management
of the Centres.
