A private household was defined to the enumerator as follows:
"A household comprises one person living alone or a group of persons
living together, partaking of meals prepared together and benefiting
from common housekeeping. A person or persons living but not boarding
with a household in a house, flat, etc. should be treated as a separate
household. But a person living with a household who usually has at
least one main meal a day provided by that household while in residence
is part of that household. (Breakfast counts as a meal for this purpose.)
A household must have exclusive use of at least one room. If two people
share one room and do not have exclusive use of at least one other room
they should be treated as one house-hold."
