Icecream — fat content
At the beginning of the year the Ministry of Food decided to
make an extra allocation of sugar to all manufacturers of icecream who
undertook to produce icecream containing a minimum of 2\ percent
fat. Within a short time the sugar position had apparently improved
and the extra allocation was made to all manufacturers. At the request
of the Ministry of Food samples of icecream are analysed for fat content
and the results of the analyses are communicated to the Ministry, who
hope to collect statistics as a result of which they can insist on minimal
standards of icecream quality.
A summary of the samples which were submitted to the public analyst during the year, is appended :—
