Scarlet Fever.—This disease showed only a slight increase on
the previous year, 868 cases being notified, as against 830 in 1935.
There were two fatal cases.
Diphtheria.—There was a gratifying decrease in the incidence
of this disease, 247 cases being notified, compared with 314 in 1935.
The deaths numbered 4 only, as against 14 in the previous year.
Typhoid Fever.—Six cases of this disease were notified, and
all received Institutional treatment. In two cases the diagnosis was
not confirmed, one of these being subsequently found to be paratyphoid.
In all the cases except one, in which the source of infection
was not traced, the disease was contracted outside the Borough.
There were no fatal cases.
Para-Typhoid Fever.—Six cases of this disease occurred, and
four of these were treated in Hospital. In one case the disease was
found to have been contracted outside the Borough, and in the
remainder the source of infection was not traced.
Diphtheria Immunisation.
