Unsound Food.—The following quantities of meat, fish, etc.,
were surrendered as unfit for food, and destroyed : —
Tinned Fruit, 69 tins; Bananas, 1 cwt.; Tomatoes, 21 boxes;
Blackberries, 9 barrels; Asparagus, 27 tins; Sardines, 2,492 tins;
Sild, 536 tins; Fresh fish, 9½ stones, and 25 boxes; Ham, 10 lbs.;
Sheep, pig and bullock offal, 195 stones.
Registration of Food Premises.- Section 5 of the London County
Council (General Powers) Act, 1932, requires the registration with
the Local Authority of all premises used for the preparation or
manufacture of sausages, or for the potting, pressing, pickling, or
preserving of meat, fish, or other food intended for sale, and for the
manufacture or sale of ice cream.
At the end of the year 327 premises were on register, including
167 ice-cream premises.
Bakehouses.—There are 82 bakehouses on the Register, and
375 inspections of these were made during the year.
Restaurants and Eating-houses.—There are 135 establishments
of this description on the Register, and during the year 239 inspections
were made.
Food Shops and Stalls.—Inspections of these premises during
the year numbered 2,312.
Merchandise Marks Act, 1925.
The following orders came into force during the year : —
Merchandise Marks (Imported Goods) No. 7 order, 1934, with
the Merchandise Marks (Imported Goods) exemption directions (Nos.
3, 4, 6 and 7), 1934.
Sale of Food (Revocation) order, 1935, with the Merchandise
Marks (Imported Goods) Exemption Directions (No. 1), 1935.
Merchandise Marks (Imported Goods) Exemption Directions
(No. 4), 1935, which combines in one inclusive Direction, the
Merchandise Marks (Imported Goods) Exemption Directions (No. 4),
1934, the Merchandise Marks (Imported Goods) Exemption Directions
