FACTORIES ACT 1961
The Factories Act requires the local authority to
(a) Enforce the provisions regarding sanitary conveniences in all factories
and to enforce the provisions relating to cleanliness, overcrowding,
temperature, ventilation, and drainage of floors in any factory in
which mechanical power is not used.
(b) Maintain a register of outworkers and to inspect all premises where outwork
is carried out.
(c) Inspect basement bakehouses to see that they are suitable for such use
as regards construction, height, light, ventilation and any hygienic respect.
Three basement bakehouses which have been in continuous use since 1937
had their licenses renewed.
