ST. MARTINS HIGH SCHOOL, TULSE HILL
Inspections of the pool at this school revealed that the supervision and
operation of the plant was most unsatisfactory.
Samples, with varying free chlorine readings were observed and over a
period, readings were as low as NIL and high as 13.5 p.p.w. (the standard may
be taken as 0.5 p.p.m.).
The Associate Medical Officer of Health arranged for the bath to be taken
out of use until such time as satisfactory arrangements for the day to day
running of the pool could be made.
A discussion at the school between the Associate Medical Officer of Health
the Public Analyst, an officer of the Greater London Council Scientific Advisers
Department, the Headmistress of the School and a Senior Public Health Inspector
was arranged, and as a result of the Greater London Council accepting responsibility
for the adequate training supervision of the employee caring for the pool,
the Associate Medical Officer of Health agreed to the resumption of the use of
the bath.
