In all cases where coliform organisms were present, the free chlorine
content was found to be zero except in one instance at Dick Sheppard School,
where it was found to be very low. This fault was reported and corrected without
delay. Re-sampling confirmed that the condition of the bath was satisfactory.
St. Martln's-in-the-Fields School
At the beginning of the year under review a meeting was called to discuss
the results obtaining up to that date. The suggestions put forward were adopted
and the equipment was overhauled. Arrangements were also made for the
appropriate school staff to be instructed on correct maintenance and on methods
for regular testing.
During the year, there was one serious lapse due to the absence of free
chlorine as the cylinder had run out. It was advised that the bath should be hand
dosed until the delivery of a fresh cylinder. Subsequent sampling showed that
the fault had been corrected.
