SERVICES UNDER THE FOOD AND DRUGS ACT 1955
(a) Milk Supplies—Brucella Abortus
There were no samples of untreated milk taken during the year. The amount
of untreated milk sold in the Borough is so small to be almost negligible.
(b) The Liquid Egg (Pasteurisation) Regulations, 1963
There are no pasteurisation plants in the Borough. 624 samples of imported
liquid egg were submitted to the Alpha-Amylase test, of these, 91 samples failed
the test.
Between 1% and 2½% of the cartons of liquid egg imported into this Borough
were taken by the Food Inspectors during the year. Generally speaking the
results from this sampling were most satisfactory, but a few consignments had to
be re-exported to the country of origin, which was Shanghai. A certain amount of
