NOTIFICATIONS OTHER THAN TUBERCULOSIS
There was a general reduction in the number of notifications received during
the year.
In fact, the total number was less than half that for the year 1965.
It is pleasing to report that no case of Diphtheria or Poliomyelitis was
notified during the year.
MEASLES
The most prevalent infectious disease was measles, 1,451 cases occurring,
thus accounting for 74% of the total notifications.
In spite of this, however, there was a considerable reduction on the figure for
1965 when 3,578 cases were notified.
No death occurred from the disease.
SCARLET FEVER
Seventy-five cases were notified compared with 120 in 1965.
WHOOPING COUGH
One hundred and eighty four cases were notified compared with 92 in 1965.
There were no fatal cases.
DYSENTERY
There was a reduction in the number of cases notified, 79 cases occurring
compared with 157 in 1965.
MENINGOCOCCAL INFECTION
Two cases were notified during the year, the same as for 1965.
PNEUMONIA
The number of cases notified was reduced by 7. Forty-two notifications were
received compared with 49 in 1965.
ACUTE ENCEPHALITIS (INFECTIVE)
One case was notified, the same as in 1965.
