SCHOOL DENTAL SERVICES 1966
REPORT OF THE PRINCIPAL SCHOOL DENTAL OFFICER
The year has been a period of preparation, planning and re-thinking for the
future, within the framework of the Inner London Education Authority. The Dental
Adviser together with the Principal School Dental Officers have carried out a
complete reappraisal of the I.L.E.A. School Dental Service. The full effect of
the agreed policies and plans began to be evident in the latter half of the year.
Premises and Equipment
The best has been made of the existing premises and a number of minor works
have been completed. Attention has been given to improving both surgery and
waiting room furniture. The first stage in the modernisation of equipment was
achieved by the installation of efficient dental operating lights. All the surgery
equipment has been examined and maintained.
Plans for New Premises
Every effort has been made to ensure that any new projects are modern in
layout and design. It is disappointing that one project has not materialised due
to not obtaining Ministry loan sanction. Plans are proceeding well for one new
dental clinic. It is hoped that the extension of the Brixton clinic to include a
second surgery and the adaptation of Barley Mow to provide a new clinic will
shortly come to fruition.
