During the year under review, 2,000 samples of food and drugs
have been procured for analysis. Of these, 790 were taken with
the formalities prescribed by the Act, while 1,210 were taken
informally. The formal samples taken included milk, skimmed
milk, butter, broken biscuits, sausages, vinegar, minced beef and
chocolates.
The principal food sampled informally was butter. Nearly one
hundred different varieties of other foods and a great number of
drugs were sampled and submitted to the Public Analyst for
analysis.
