Slaughterhouses (Hygiene) Regulations, 1958-1966
The Slaughter of Animals (Prevention of Cruelty) Regulations 1958/59
The licence in respect of the private slaughterhouse in the Borough was renewed and 32
inspections were made in addition to visits for the inspection of carcasses after slaughter.
Inspections were also carried out by the Divisional Veterinary Officer of the Ministry of
Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. The appropriate legislation was complied with.
DISEASES OF ANIMALS ACT, 1950
The Diseases of Animals Act and allied legislation is implemented on behalf of the
Council by the Corporation of the City of London through its Veterinary Officer.
Visits were made by the Veterinary Officer each week to the private slaughter-house in
the Borough. (&iarterly visits were made to Chapel Market in connection with the possible
sale of live poultry, and also to Kosher Butchers and Poulterers.
In accordance with the Animals (Miscellaneous Provisions) Order, 1927, the following
Orders made by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food were advertised in the
National Press:-
Foot and Mouth Disease (Controlled Areas Restrictions) (Amendment) Order 1968.
Foot and Mouth Disease (Imported Meat) Order, 1968.
Foot and Mouth Disease (Controlled Areas) Special Orders Nos. 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Foot and Mouth Disease (Imported Meat) (No.2) Order, 1968.
