OTHER INDUSTRIAL NUISANCES
Owing to the very mixed development which occurred in various parts of the Borough
before Town Planning control operated, complaints were frequently received from residents
of nuisances alleged to emanate from industrial or commercial sources. All were investigated
and action was taken under Public Health legislation for nuisance where possible.
Apart from noise, dealt with elsewhere, complaints were made during the year of
nuisances caused by car breakers and the parking and repair of motor vehicles in the roadway.
Nuisances from dust and fumes, another common cause of complaint, were somewhat less in
1968.
