Hie standard of hygiene in food undertakings is normally at a satisfactory level
but the Council is concerned about the conditions which exist in the remainder of
cafes and restaurants and which are not providing the standard of cleanliness and
hygiene which the public are entitled to expect.
In a report submitted by the Public Health Committee to the Council, it was
stated that regular inspections of food premises are made and when, as a result of such
inspections or when such matters are brought to the Committee s attention by complaint,
investigations are made, warnings given and if there is no satisfactory improvement,
proceedings are instituted.
